History

Cyprien Arlaud, who has managed Domaine Arlaud for over 20 years, is dedicated to producing wines that reflect the unique characteristics of Burgundy’s diverse terroirs. Scritch is Cyprien Arlaud’s playful, contemporary range of organic white wines, crafted to express the essence of Burgundy’s diverse terroirs. The name comes from the sound of chalk on barrels—a nod to traditional winemaking notes that Arlaud’s children now imitate during vinification.

The collection includes wines from Chablis, Bourgogne Aligoté, and Hautes-Côtes de Beaune, all made with hand-harvested grapes, indigenous yeast fermentation, and organic practices. Scritch combines ancestral traditions with a modern, creative approach, offering fresh and authentic expressions of Burgundy whites.

Farming and Philosophy

The winemaking process for Scritch wines is rooted in organic practices, featuring hand-harvested grapes, long pressing of whole bunches, indigenous yeast fermentation, and aging on lees in stainless steel vats. The wines undergo malolactic fermentation and are bottled without fining, aligning with biodynamic principles and lunar cycles. Through Scritch, Cyprien Arlaud offers a fresh perspective on Burgundy’s white wines, blending tradition with innovation to create expressions that are both rooted in the land and forward-thinking.
